Lytton Wildfire Remediation
Village of Lytton (for Arcadis)
Lytton, BC
Geoff was the Senior Risk Assessment specialist providing Arcadis with data and statistical analysis of soil quality analytical results to support their investigation and remedial efforts for the wildfire that destroyed over 83,000 hectares and 100 properties in the Village of Lytton, BC on June 21, 2021. The task included review and refinement of the tens of thousands of data points for metals, butyltins, volatile petroleum hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, and polychlorinated biphenyls; and distillation of the information into an actionable description of the wildfires impact on soil quality. The data analytics assisted with the designation of impact zones by land use and human health risk, aiding in the prioritization of clean-up activities necessary to begin rebuilding the community.
